With the increase of people's life span, cancer has gradually become one of the leading causes of human death. Cancer treatment has been a hot research area globally. Generally with a high recurrence rate, tumor cells can not be radically eliminated by traditional surgical therapy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. However, tumor immunotherapy brings hope. Global Cancer Statistics 2018 published by the World Health Organization(WHO) pointed out that cancer is one of the main causes of death in the world. In 2018, there were about 18.1 million new cancer cases and 9.6 million cancer deaths. In the face of this severe situation, a great deal of human and material resources have been invested into the research on the mechanism, prevention and treatment of cancer. For a long time, surgical therapy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are considered to be the main clinical treatment for tumor. Though with a certain effect, it’s difficult to fundamentally cure tumors and control the metastasis and tumor recurrence. In recent years, the development of tumor immunotherapy has brought a light of hope. Tumor immunotherapy is a kind of method which can control and eliminate tumors by restarting and maintaining cancer-immunity cycle to restore normal anti-tumor immune response. It includes monoclonal antibody immunosuppressive checkpoint inhibitors, therapeutic antibodies, cancer vaccines, cytotherapy and small molecule inhibitors. In recent years, tumor immunotherapy has been enjoying a spate of good news. At present, its strong antineoplastic activity has been shown in the treatment of various solid tumors such as melanoma, non-small cell lung cancer, renal cancer and prostate cancer. Many tumor immunotherapy drugs have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration(FDA) for clinical application. In 2013, tumor immunotherapy was hailed as the most important scientific breakthrough of the year by the journal Science due to its excellent efficacy and innovation. In 2018, when two tumor immunotherapy drugs(PD-1) were approved to be sold in China, people were happy even saying that O drug(Opdivo) and K drug(Keytruda) finally turn to be OK. However, there are some problems in the actual clinical application, which deserves our thinking and analysis. Hence, we should not only look forward to the future of tumor immunotherapy, but also calmly reflect on the experience and lessons from the past. Based on this, this book makes a discussion on clinical oncology, tumor immunocytotherapy as well as immunodiagnosis and immunotherapy of common clinical tumors through three chapters, aiming to provide reference for the relevant personnel.
